Whenever an incident occurs where injury or death are involved, the resulting feelings are powerful. This is no different in the tragic accident involving Jonathan Murphy who was struck by a vehicle at work in the Alberta Fort Hills Oil Sands project. “Canadian workers compensation boards reported that 951 workers died due to work related causes in 2017.” These incidents occur much too often and are the reason why we developed the Start Right 360™ Inspection System.
The first step to reducing, and ultimately removing, the number of vehicle related incidents is awareness. By ensuring operators are aware of their surroundings prior to operating a vehicle, we can take aim at the majority of preventable vehicle incidents and with commitment from employers to develop strong safety culture as well as continual innovation in safety, we may one day see an accident free workplace.
Our goal at National Safety Solutions is to design and build safety devices in hopes that we will one day see workplace injuries be a thing of the past. In order to achieve this, our team is constantly analyzing and assessing the conditions in which these events occur. The better we understand why and how accidents take place, the better chance we have of preventing them all together.
Our thoughts and hearts are with the families and individuals impacted by this tragic event and we are committed to the continued research of safety equipment and programs.
